Parkview Green is honored to announce the exhibition Welcome to Parkview Green—Parkview Contemporary Art Collection I, to be held from June 29 to September 23. This will be the first installment of the Parkview Collection Exhibition Series, presenting a small part of Parkview Chairman George Wong’s sweeping collection of contemporary art, covering a wide range of mediums and forms from painting to performance art, and including artist Yang Tao’s unique Moving the Studio into the Exhibition Hall. We look forward to your participation.

Over a span of more than twenty years, George Wong has amassed a rich and varied collection containing everything from ancient Chinese art to cigars and wine, from modern Western art to Chinese contemporary art. He has referred to himself as “a collector who is anything but single-minded.” Owing to his studies of architectural design in England in his youth, George Wong practices a principal of “open collecting,” innovatively incorporating the items in his collection into his own commercial and personal spaces. This open format of artistic exhibition allows the public to experience and share the beauty of art firsthand. In his own words, “To place a work of art in a public space is to make it a public work of art.” It is this very way of thinking that has molded Beijing Parkview Green’s societal influence.

The Parkview Green Exhibition Hall is a non-profit organization founded by George Wong. It is an experimental platform and window for contemporary art.  The Exhibition Hall’s purpose is to promote the development of Chinese contemporary art to nurture the exchange of international contemporary art through exhibitions, performing the task of public art education while providing the public with a deeper understanding of the developmental trends of international art. Following its grand presentation of Wang Luyan’s solo exhibition Diagramming Allegory in 2013, the Parkview Green Exhibition Hall is currently presenting Welcome to Parkview Green—Parkview Contemporary Art CollectionⅠ as a serial exhibition, displaying portions of George Wong’s collected works in themed exhibitions. George Wong’s collection of contemporary art is not just grand in terms of quantity; many of his collected works possess academic value and are even of significance to the study of aesthetic history, and as such are extremely worthy of display and research. This exhibition not only presents the works of famed artists such as Liu Wei, Mao Lizi, Miao Xiaochun, Wang Guangyi, Wang Luyan, Yue Minjun, Zeng Fanzhi and Zhang Xiaogang, but also displays the works of artists who have served as core drivers of history, such as FU Tso Hsin, Shen Jingdong, Wang Guofeng and Yang Tao. In addition, the works of the young artists Li Hui, Na Wei, You Jin and Zheng Lu are also featured, along with the works of the female artist Qin Fengling and the female poet Fan Xueyi.

The works selected for this first installment of Welcome to Parkview Green—Parkview Contemporary Art CollectionⅠ embody a unique train of thought revolving around encounters, memories and meditations. This exhibition of works from eighteen Chinese contemporary artists covers a wide range of media—oil painting, sculpture, installations, murals, performance, images, film and literature—as well as disparate styles, concepts, language and forms. This precisely embodies the open and optimistic artistic embrace of the self-professed “broad-minded art enthusiast” that is George Wong.

It is also worth noting that the large environmentally-themed art exhibition On Sharks & Humanity, organized by Parkview Group, opened at the Musée Océanographique de Monaco on June 8, and will continue until March 8, 2015. Participating artists include Wang Luyan, Weng Fen, Li Hui, Fan Xueyi, Zheng Lu, Gao Xiaowu, Zou Liang, Xia Hang, Yu Yang and Liu Zining. In order to share this wonderful experience with Beijing audiences, we have created a virtual exhibition hall for On Sharks & Humanity at the entrance to the D Exhibition Hall.
